Be supposed to
'Be supposed to + V' nghĩa là 'theo quy định/kế hoạch/thỏa thuận thì phải hoặc sẽ...'. Thường dùng khi nói về nhiệm vụ, lịch trình, quy định — đôi khi ngụ ý thực tế không diễn ra như vậy.
Công thức
S + am/is/are/was/were + supposed to + V (nguyên thể). Phủ định: be + not + supposed to + V.
Khi nào dùng
Dùng khi nhắc quy định ('Staff are not supposed to...'), kế hoạch đã định ('The shipment was supposed to arrive yesterday') hoặc nhiệm vụ được giao.

We are supposed to submit the budget plan by Friday.
Theo kế hoạch, chúng tôi phải nộp bản kế hoạch ngân sách trước thứ Sáu.
The shipment was supposed to arrive yesterday, but it was delayed.
Lô hàng lẽ ra phải đến hôm qua, nhưng nó bị chậm.

Lưu ý
- Luôn cần động từ to be trước 'supposed' và luôn có '-d': be supposed to (dù khi nói nhanh âm 'd' gần như không nghe thấy).
- 'Not supposed to' nghĩa là không được phép theo quy định: 'Visitors are not supposed to enter the server room'.
