AFor many city residents, the daily commute by bus or train takes up more than an hour each day, time that used to feel entirely wasted until recently. Growing numbers of commuters now treat this time as a small, protected window for something else entirely.
BPodcasts and audiobooks have become especially popular during commutes, partly because they do not require looking at a screen on a crowded train, unlike reading an article or scrolling through messages while standing and holding a rail.
CSome commuters use the time more deliberately, planning the day ahead or mentally preparing for a difficult meeting, finding that a fixed block of quiet thinking time is otherwise hard to find once the workday properly begins.
DNot everyone experiences the commute positively, of course; delays, crowding, and unreliable schedules can turn the same hour into a source of daily stress rather than a useful pause, depending heavily on the route and the city's transport system.
