ADeciding whether to deliver information through a written report or a short verbal briefing is not just a matter of personal preference; the right choice often depends heavily on how the information will actually be used afterward.
BA written report works well when the content is detailed, needs to be referenced again later, or must be reviewed carefully by someone who was not present when it was prepared, since written text allows the reader to control the pace.
CA verbal briefing, by contrast, suits situations where a decision is needed quickly, since it allows immediate questions and clarification, something a written report cannot offer until someone eventually responds, possibly days later.
DMany teams default to whichever format feels easier to prepare, rather than whichever format actually serves the audience's real needs, which can leave important decisions waiting on a lengthy document when a five-minute conversation would have sufficed.
