AWeekly status updates are meant to keep a manager informed without taking much of anyone's time, yet many employees write them in a way that makes the reader work hard just to find the useful information buried inside.
BA clear status update usually starts with the most important line first, such as whether a project is on track, delayed, or blocked, rather than opening with background details the reader may already know.
CListing specific numbers or dates, like "three of five tasks finished, final task due Thursday," gives a manager something concrete to react to, compared with a vaguer line like "things are going well so far."
DEnding the update with a direct question or request, when one exists, also saves time later. A manager who sees exactly what decision is needed can respond quickly, instead of a slow back-and-forth to figure out what is actually being asked.
